The Army Distaff Foundation hosts a number of events at Knollwood throughout the year. These events provide unique opportunities for residents, board members, and supporters of Knollwood to mingle and remain informed about the activities and programs they support.
FIFTEENTH ANNUAL GALA
The Army Distaff Foundation/Knollwood will host the Fifteenth Annual Gala, presented by DRS Technologies, Inc., on September 22, 2010 beginning at 6:30 pm. This year’s recipients of the Eisenhower Distinguished Citizen Award are Congressman Norm Dicks, (D-WA) and Mark S. Newman, Chairman and CEO of DRS Technologies, Inc. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Campaign for the Health Services Center, an important project that will transform the current HSC into a modern, state-of-the-art facility that will be better able to meet the needs of Knollwood residents.
There will be a cocktail buffet and silent auction from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. followed by a wonderful dinner and awards ceremony honoring Representative Dicks and Mr. Newman. Coffee and dessert will follow. We anticipate that more than 300 prominent individuals, including the top leadership of the Army, active and retired military officers, Knollwood residents, and respected government and industry leaders, will take part in this celebration and presentation.
Tickets for this year’s gala are $125 for residents and $200 for other individuals. Family members and friends are more than welcome to join us for the occasion.
Individuals also have an opportunity to serve as a sponsor at three different levels. For $1,000, as a Patron Sponsor, you will receive two invitations to the VIP reception and two tickets to the Gala. At the $2,500 level, as a Director Sponsor, you will receive four invitations to the VIP reception as well as four tickets to the Gala. $5,000 will provide you the title of Contributing Sponsor with benefits including six invitations to the VIP reception and reserved gala seating for six guests. All sponsors will have name recognition on event signage and program and will be acknowledged in the Foundation’s newsletter and Annual Report.
Please contact Michelle Maxberry, Annual Giving Associate, at 202-541-0349 if you are interested in becoming a gala sponsor or have questions about the gala.
Every year in April, the Army Distaff Foundation hosts an Annual Luncheon & Membership Meeting for all residents, members, and board members of the Army Distaff Foundation/Knollwood. This annual event provides attendees with the opportunity to meet with other supporters of Knollwood and receive information about the Army Distaff Foundation’s activities during the previous year. Attendees can look forward to a reception and silent auction prior to the luncheon. Proceeds from the event and the auction benefit the Army Distaff Foundation’s programs throughout the year.
Annual Gala
The Fiftieth Anniversary Gala and presentation of the Eisenhower Distinguished Citizen Award, hosted September 30, 2009, was an enormous success. With the support of corporate and individual donors, the Foundation raised more than $500,000 to benefit the Campaign for Continuing Care, which raises funds for the renovation of the Health Services Center, the skilled nursing and long-term care community at Knollwood.
Special thanks to the Presenting Sponsor, MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings, Inc., Gold Sponsors, General Dynamics and L-3 Communications, and Silver Sponsor, DRS Technologies, as well as the 2009 Eisenhower Distinguished Citizen Award recipients, Senator John McCain, (R-AZ) and Mr. Ronald Perelman, Chairman & CEO of MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings, Inc.
